Efficacy of Intra Articular Steroid Injection and Platelet Rich Plasma in Patients with Osteoarthrithis

Objective: To compare the efficacy of intra-articular steroid injection and Platelet rich plasma in patients with Osteoarthrithis. Methodology: A randomized controlled trail study was conducted at Rheumatology Division Department Medicine, Pakistan Institute Medical Sciences, Islamabad after acceptance synopsis from . total 122 adult unilateral or bilateral osteoarthritis knee were into two treatment groups. In Group I, received injections II, platelet (PRP). WOMAC score calculated baseline subsequently assessed 06 weeks 3 months. Results: Age gender distribution mean VAS scores similar both groups (p>0.05). At six weeks, group 32.1 ± 24.1 it 24.9 21.3 PRP (P=0.084). Mean 4.5 2.5 3.9 2.6 (P=0.0.158). three months, 39.1 24.3 SD 27.1 21.9 (P=0.005). 5.6 4.1 2.7 (P=0.003). Conclusions: The outcomes better treated as compared to injection. WMOAC significantly lower months group.
